Dr Mandy Burton joined Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in January 2017 as a Nurse Consultant with Hampshire Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service. She became Clinical Lead in 2018 and then interim Deputy Chief Nurse in August 2021. She took up the role of Interim Chief Nursing Office in January 2022.
Mandy has three decades worth of experience in mental health in Hampshire, across inpatient and community services, children and young people and adult's mental health and learning disability. Mandy has worked in various roles and set up a service to support Children and Young people residing in care to prioritise access to mental health services. She has always worked in the NHS, except for a short time when she volunteered to work as a nurse abroad. Mandy is a member of the regional network for Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health and is a passionate advocate for people who experience mental health difficulties.
She described being Interim Chief Nursing Officer as a huge privilege and praised the clinical and operational leadership within Sussex Partnership, along with the vast amount of expertise amongst colleagues.
