I am passionate about the NHS and driving forward improvements for patient care and safety as well as staff safety, health and wellbeing. I believe my role as Staff Governor is an important link between the Board of Directors and members.
I currently work for Sussex Partnership as the Head of Incident Management and Safety, this enables me the privilege of meeting many staff and hearing first hand challenges they face on a day to day level. I am able to collect this feedback to not only represent these views but also act as a key focal point between staff, directors, non-executive directors and other governors.
My career to date has taught me many skills and qualities that I bring to the role of staff governor. Prior to joining the NHS eight years ago I worked in the private sector for ten years. This taught me many lessons of being commercially aware and the importance of governance and management systems. This experience complemented by my NHS experience puts me in an ideal position as a governor to drive forward the values and 2020 vision of the trust in the interests of staff, patients and the public.
As part of this role I demonstrate high levels of integrity and am diplomatically assertive to ensure the best interests of staff members. This is essential for making sure the views of the wider community are taken into account in providing and developing our services.
