Elizabeth Hall, Governor - West Sussex

My name is Elizabeth Hall although to others I am known as Ann.

I have previous experience of being a Governor in the service user constituency and have, on and off, needed the support of mental health over the last 60 years. Throughout this time I have seen services come a long way and I am pleased mental health is now talked about more openly whilst acknowledging there is still a long way to go. I feel it should by now be treated as acute medicine and if we continue to battle we will achieve this.

During my previous five years as a Governor I have been privileged to see both carer and patient concerns coming to the fore and I believe there is now a good rapport with Sussex Partnership.

There is still a lot of work to do and I would like to become more involved with these different groups. My main interest is youth. Today it seems that even very young ones fall victims to depression, but now schools are listening and involving parents. Before my last term I started to put together the basis of a youth council, where our young people can engage with clinicians and work towards the best pathways to follow. This I hope will soon come to fruitation.

I promise that my door will always be open to all and each of you, just please contact me via: governors@sussexpartnership.nhs.uk
