Apprenticeship opportunities

We currently offer apprenticeships in the following professional areas:

In 2019, we became an employer provider, which means that we are able to deliver our own in-house apprenticeships. We currently provide the Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker, and Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeships.

All other apprenticeship programmes are delivered externally and fully supported within the Trust.

An apprenticeship is a job with an accompanying skills development programme. An apprentice gains the technical knowledge, practical experience and wider skills they need for their immediate job and future career, all while continuing to be paid in their existing role.

An apprenticeship involves a mix of learning in the workplace, formal off-the-job training, and the opportunity to practice new skills in a real-world environment.

There are a number of benefits of completing an apprenticeship, including:

  • Further your career potential and opportunities
  • Be recognised for the work you do
  • Gain valuable work experience
  • Develop job specific skills
  • Achieve nationally recognised qualifications.

For newly recruited apprentices joining the Trust, they can be employed on a fixed term contract, part time, full time or through a permanent role, providing the contract supports the length and requirement of the apprenticeship.

This depends on the level, type of the apprenticeship and provider. Some apprenticeships will involve mandatory classroom attendance, some are fully delivered virtually and others will involve a combination of learning environments.

Many clinical apprenticeships will also involve placement requirements outside of the Trust and within the local radius.

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education has a great website with more information about apprenticeships.
