Meet the team...Rachel Cullen
Tell us a bit about your role
There are three main features to my role. The first is to support the Provider Collaborative to develop high quality, effective and clinically safe system pathways for autistic people, with and without a learning disability. Secondly, I provide expert advice and guidance on the delivery of care and treatment for autistic people and influence, and support and guide best practice across the Provider Collaborative. This is delivered through consultation, training and a Community of Practice I'm establishing. Finally, I work collaboratively with partners to identify, understand and address gaps in provision which impact on the delivery of services to autistic people.
How long have you been in your role/working for the Provider Collaborative?
I have been working in this role for the provider collaborative since the start of June 2024.
What's the favourite thing about your job?
One of my favourite aspects of the job is the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of autistic individuals. This role enables me to contribute to shaping services that truly meet the needs of the autistic community through a combination of academic, professional, and lived experience. Using this combined approach ensures we are creating a more inclusive, supportive, and understanding environment for autistic people. Ultimately, it's fulfilling to know that my role plays an important part in improving outcomes and enhancing the quality of care provided.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I like to do yoga most mornings before work and enjoy swimming and beach days when the weather is warm enough. I also love any excuse for a BBQ.
Is there anything people would be surprised to know about you?
I used to live in New Zealand when I was a child and was a keen horse rider.
