Meet the team...Mike Kingham

Mike Kingham_thumbnail.jpgMeet Mike Kingham, Clinical Director for the Kent, Surrey and Sussex Adult Secure Provider Collaborative. Read on to find out more about his role and how his career almost took a very different path.

Tell us a bit about your role

The Clinical Director role oversees care pathways for individuals who originate from Kent, Surrey and Sussex who are referred and admitted to secure services. I follow their care until their discharge from hospital and when they are provided with aftercare by our community forensic mental health services.

Additionally, the role involves oversight of the safety and quality of our services and identifying opportunities for service development which we can then implement.

How long have you been in your role/working for the Provider Collaborative?

More than 5 years!  Before I joined the Provider Collaborative, I was a consultant at the Trevor Gibbens Unit in Maidstone.

What's the favourite thing about your job?

Helping people to get the right care in the right place at the right time.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Currently building a Lego Concorde!  Going for long walks in the countryside and at the seaside.

Is there anything people would be surprised to know about you?

I almost ended up in the theatre; I auditioned successfully for the National Youth Theatre at the age of 18 but went to medical school instead.
