A new service which supports children and young people with complex needs has been added to the Kent and Sussex CAMHS Provider Collaborative portfolio.

Forensic CAMHS (FCAMHS) - which is provided by Sussex Partnership Foundation Trust - is a community-based child and adolescent mental health service for children and young people under the age of 18 who live in Sussex, Surrey and Kent and Medway who present with serious risk of harm to others and have a range of complex needs.

FCAMHS supports local services to deliver child-centred, holistic care through multi-agency working and by helping the wider workforce to feel more confident when working with risk and complexity.

The service offers advice, consultation, specialist assessment and, in some cases, direct intervention with young people and their families and carers to support professionals who are working with young people whose behaviour is of concern.

The Provider Collaborative's aims are for children and young people to be cared for as close as possible to their family and community, in the least restrictive environment where possible, do not spend any longer than is necessary in hospital and are supported in the community wherever possible as an alternative to inpatient care.
