New CAMHS Provider Collaborative for Hampshire and Isle of Wight, Sussex, Kent and Medway

A new NHS CAMHS Provider Collaborative (PC) has been established to manage commissioning arrangements for specialist mental health services for children and young people from Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Sussex, Kent and Medway (HSK).

The new HSK CAMHS PC, which came into effect on 1 May 2024, is a consolidation of the Kent and Sussex and Wessex and Dorset CAMHS PCs, which previously operated as separate entities. Dorset Healthcare left the Wessex and Dorset PC to join the South West PC from April 2024.

Working in partnership with the ICBs, the new PC provides an opportunity to create a full range of in-patient beds and alternatives to admission, such as intensive home treatment and day care services within the footprint. This will reduce the need for out-of-area placements for children and young people in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, Sussex, Kent and Medway.

The new PC will build on the strong joint working and shared learning that already exists between the two PCs and the range of services that have been established in recent years. This includes Spring Tide Eating Disorder Day Service in Sussex, Blake Eating Disorder Day Service in Hampshire and Closer2Home Intensive Home Treatment Service in Hampshire.

The HSK CAMHS PC is led by Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, in partnership with Southern Health, Solent NHS Trust, Isle of Wight Trust, North East London NHS Foundation Trust and Elysium Healthcare.

New strategy

Representatives from the new PC and wider health and care systems are now looking to develop a new strategy for the PC, to ensure that new services are aligned with the commissioning priorities of other organisations. The PC will be setting up meetings to identify opportunities and challenges for the PC and prioritise areas of focus for the next two to three years.
