Meet Jenny Cooke. She joined Sussex Partnership in January 2024 as the Deputy Chief Strategy and Partnerships Officer and Managing Director for the Provider Collaboratives. Learn more about her role and find out why Jenny is someone you wouldn't want to mess with!

Tell us a bit about your role

I am the Deputy Chief Strategy and Partnerships Officer / Managing Director for Provider Collaboratives (it’s a bit of a mouthful!). In my 'deputy' role I am leading the work around Sussex Partnership's strategy refresh and supporting the overall running of the strategy and partnerships function.

As Managing Director of the PCs, I support our Programme Directors in the running of the Provider Collaboratives, with a particular focus on strategy and development.

How long have you been in your role?

I joined the Trust in January this year - so less than five months!

What's your favourite thing about your job?

I know it’s a bit of a cliché, but the best thing about the job so far has definitely been the people. The PC teams are great - hard working and very value driven. And getting to know the partners across all of the collaboratives has been really fulfilling. The PCs have such a diverse range of people and organisations involved - it keeps the work very interesting.

How did you get into the role?

I had previous NHS roles in strategy, planning, service delivery and integration. When I saw this role come up, I thought it was a great opportunity to get back into a mental health provider, using my skills and experience in strategy and planning.

What do you like to do outside of work?

I like to get outside as much as possible - I moved down to Sussex recently so I am enjoying exploring the area on my bike.

Is there anything people would be surprised to know about you?

As a teenager I was a prolific martial artist, and had two black belts in different disciplines of karate!
