Learning and development through NHS apprenticeships
This includes Project Manager Olivia Moorhouse who is undertaking the Improvement in Leadership apprenticeship delivered by Reading Business School. Through the course, Olivia is hoping to enhance her understanding of improvement techniques, strategic thinking and change management processes to help her in her current role and future career development.
Olivia said: "The apprenticeship is specifically for NHS staff, so I am surrounded by like-minded people who want to help improve systems and ways of working. It is giving me the opportunity to reflect on the work I am undertaking in a structured way to support personal-professional development and system wide improvements.
"Whilst the reading can be quite academic, I am using this learning to find opportunities within my work to underpin the knowledge, skills and behaviours that are developed through the course."
Another apprentice is Rebecca Rollo, Senior Case Manager for the Provider Collaborative who has enrolled on the nine-month-long Rosalind Frankin programme which is delivered by the NHS Leadership Academy. The programme covers leadership skills, change management and system leadership.
She said: "I am excited to participate in this course, having heard positive feedback from others who have previously undertaken this training. It will support me in my current role as well as in my future career development. I am finding it helpful to understand more about where I fit, and my service fits, within the wider health and care system, as well as exploring the experiences of people who access services."
